NRK 07.02.2024. Measures against rising rape figures:

Jennie-Lovise Nordheim Bjerke
Marketing Manager, Never Walk Alone

In Oslo, reports show that sexual assaults have increased by a startling 70% over the past ten years, with a significant increase among the 14 to 19 age group, mainly among young girls.

Dr. Martine Rostadmo, a leading expert at Overgrepsmottaket in Oslo, notes that victims have expressed genuine fear for their lives, a sentiment shared by many young people who feel ill-equipped to navigate interfaces and consent in today's hyper-sexualized culture.

Bjørn Guldvog, Director of Health in Norway, emphasizes the need for a collective response from parents, teachers and policy makers to effectively address this multidimensional issue. He emphasizes the crucial role of schools and health services in offering support and guidance to vulnerable individuals, while arguing for increased awareness and preventive measures.

The Never Walk Alone Foundation aims to increase knowledge and expertise about violence and sexual abuse against women among young people, parents and schools. The Never Walk Alone Foundation contributes by developing an educational program on violence and rape in Norway, targeting secondary schools, students and parents.  There is a great need to raise awareness, run information campaigns, offer training programs in collaboration with secondary schools, students and parents to create a society where violence and rape are not accepted.

Monica Sydgård, head of Save the Children's Norway program, emphasizes the urgent need for government intervention and improved sex education programs that challenge harmful stereotypes perpetuated by easily accessible and often violent pornography.

The foundation focuses on preventing and preventing violence and rape by combining different methods of prevention, support, technology and collaboration. Never Walk Alone will help create more effective and sustainable solutions that can make a real difference in society by:

1. Spread knowledge and increase competence about violence and rape:  Never Walk Alone aims to inform and educate society about violence and rape. This includes training programs, workshops, lectures, seminars and campaigns to raise awareness of these issues.

2. Contribute to a safer everyday life for young people:  Never Walk Alone wants to create a safer environment and reduce the risk of violence and rape. This means providing support services that are specifically tailored to their needs.

3. changing attitudes in businesses and society: Never Walk Alone works to influence attitudes and behaviors related to violence and rape. This involves working with businesses to implement policies and training programs on violence and rape prevention, as well as working with the wider community to promote respect, equality and safe environments.

4. Engaging young people, students, parents and schools:  Never Walk Alone wants to engage different groups in society to create a broader movement for change. This involves working with schools and parents to provide information, lectures and digital tools in the fight against violence and rape.
